When I came to TU, I really struggled in the beginning. The intensity of preseason, coupled with being so far from my family and friends, really had me down and thinking about whether going to Thomas was the right choice for me. Luckily, in between all of our preseason practices, an organization called Goalline Ministries provided our meals by enabling the local churches to come and feed us. I met so many amazing people and was invited to join the Goalline leadership team. My faith was always really important to me, and I was so happy to find out TU had a program to help grow and nurture that. Over the next four years of my college career, the people of Goalline became my family. I could call them and ask for help, they would support me at my games, and we would have a ton of fun on nights like Survivor, playing hilarious games, singing songs about God, and hearing inspiring testimonies. I know without a doubt that if not for Goalline, I would have returned home. I loved TU, but Goalline Ministries and the community that surrounded it were really the selling point for me. It helped encourage my faith when faced with temptation and gave me a whole community of people to talk to when I was at my lowest. Had I not stayed at TU because of Goalline I would not have met the love of my life and now husband and father to our two kids, I wouldn’t have continued my dream of playing college soccer and would not have gotten the opportunity to get my graduates degree while helping coach the women’s soccer team after my fours of playing were done. I owe so much to Goalline Ministries, and the days of leadership meetings, survivor Wednesdays, and end-of-year celebrations are some of my fondest memories at Thomas University. Thank you, Goalline Ministries!
